Underbite

Just outside of Cody, Wyoming is a place called McCullagh Peaks Wild Horse Management Area.  I visited this area a variety of times.  There were days that I didn’t see a single horse, and then there was this day.  There was a small group of males slowly making their way through the meadow.  It was getting close to dark when the light turned on.  It was the most beautiful example of golden light that I had ever witnessed.  I always keep my distance from wildlife.  This day I had to keep moving back.  This horse kept advancing slowly and calmly towards me.  There was a connection between us.  He, and the rest of the group drank from the puddles that had formed after the rain.  Right before the light turned off, I was gifted this image by my subject.  It is titled “Underbite” for obvious reasons.
